making memories with patty bear

It’s been a nice six months, but Patty, my coworker, has elected to move back to Washington (BOO!!!!) so we decided to go to Crissy Field with her one last time. Patty was originally from WA, but moved to CA to work with us. Barbara, another coworker, joined us on this day as well. We took bailey swimming, went to Kitaro’s for a sushi lunch, then headed over to Mountain Lake Park for the monthly corgi meetup. Patty and Barbara then got the nails done in our neighborhood salon (Jolie’s) while I gave Bailey a much-need bath, and we then went back to our place and watched two movies – Office Space (cool movie) and Best in Show (weirdest movie EVER). It was an awesome, action packed day. Bailey enjoyed some of the snack spread we had on the coffee table during both movies, but was passed out for most of the time from the activities earlier in the day.

Fort Funston

Bailey and I make frequent trips to Fort Funston throughout the year. We love how much SPACE there is for dogs to run free. One of my absolute most favorite things to do is climb up to the top of the sand dunes with Bailey and sit there and play fetch, or to just admire the view of the coastline. It's just amazing on a clear sunny day! Below are some pictures that we've gotten from this wonderful place. Theres even routes down to the beach, hangliders to watch fly by, and plenty of spots to rest. Also, this park has been the spot where weve shot our last two winning pictures for the mycorgi.com calendar (2008 and 2009). click here to see a list of the winners.


Speaking of the 2010 calendar, back in November of 2009, Bailey and I submitted the following photo, and won again! Bailey is Mr. July 2010. I currently have the calendar on my wall at work... and am waiting patiently for July to arrive!

New year, new friends

In February of 2009, Bailey and I met a couple of coworkers and their dogs in the East Bay for a long awaited meetup. We met at Newhall park and had a blast!!!! There I met Catch the aussie, Summer the aussie, Miette the Papillon and Riley the mutt. As you can see below, we had a lot of fun.

long lost brother, LEO!

Bailey's 1 year birthday was approaching, and I decided to drive down to Mountain View and attend the Corgi meetup that happens down there every 3rd saturday. Well it happened to be about a week before Bailey's first birthday, and I decided to also pick up my young human cousins for the trip as well. Upon arriving there, I remember just hanging out under the shade, bailey mingling, and we see this tri colored corgi approaching the gate. The owners walked in and let the dog off leash and he bolted. BOLTED across the park in excitement. My first thought was "thats just like bailey!" . Well....... long story short - we found out that Leo, the tri colored bolting corgi, was Bailey's LITTERMATE. What an awesome awesome awesome discovery. Leo and his owners don't go to the meetups often, and it was our first time down there. It was pure luck that they found each other. They wrestled quite a bit as if they had known each other for years, then we snapped a few pics, and got some contact information before we left. What a great day that was. =D

B is for Beaches

Bailey is now 8 months old. We visited a few beaches this month, namely Ocean Beach... and...... our current favorite... Crissy Beach! Crissy Beach is a off-leash dog friendly (most of the time) beach where Bailey learned how to swim. They have a marsh that drains into the bay and vice versa depending on whether its ebb or flow... but bailey loves to swim in that stream. Also a plus is the fact that Crissy Beach is on the northern part of the city, closer east bounded by the SF Bay- which makes it much sunnier and warmer than Ocean Beach. Adjacent to Crissy Beach is Crissy Field, a fabulous humungous grassy area where Bailey learned to fetch. Oh and by the way, Crissy Beach/Field has BEAUTIFUL views of Golden Gate Bridge on a clear day.

21 weeks, enjoying the best of summer

At this point, were about ending June and heading into July. Definitely a great time to be a puppy. During this week, a couple of my friends and I decided to have a picnic in golden gate park, and it was nice enough the day before to take bailey to the beach. He LOVES digging in the sand.

At the picnic, Bailey managed to get loose, and stole about a 1/3 block of cheese from neighboring picnickers. We were VERY fortunate that the family next to us didn’t mind, but instead laughed and pointed as if bailey were some tame little bear cub munching at their campsite. Boy was I mad…..!!!!!!! we also built him a little fort so he could hide from the sun, and charged strangers money for entrance. ... but no one wanted to go in.

At the beach, bailey enjoyed watching all the surfers and loved digging himself a cold hole to lay in. I remember this day and how perfect the weather was. We never get days like this on Ocean Beach. Never!
